Ape Drums Links with Silent Addy For New Dancehall Track “Mek Money” feat. Projexx

Major Lazer’s Ape Drums today returns with new single “Mek Money” alongside its music video shot on-location in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. Featuring Miami-via-Jamaica DJ/producer Silent Addy and vox by Jamaican artist Projexx, “Mek Money” sees Ape Drums deliver a subtly trap-infused dancehall banger that shows just why Ape has continued to be heralded as an innovator in both the dancehall and dance/electronic music spaces as he gears up for his new EP due out this spring via Mad Decent.

Check out the official music video below.

Eric Alberto-Lopez, better known to the world as Ape Drums, is a Houston-born, Miami-based producer, DJ, and musician. Ape’s signature sound mixing Caribbean and Latin inspired riddims with big room and pop sensibilities has led him to be one of the most in demand DJs on the festival scene, regularly traveling the world to perform for hundreds of thousands of fans as a solo artist, and a member of the chart topping group Major Lazer with his bandmates Diplo and Walshy Fire.

Ape Drums has collaborated with underground hip hop stars Lil Uzi Vert and Denzel Curry, and as a remixer he has turned in huge mixes of pop mega-stars and buzzing artists alike. Since joining Major Lazer in 2019, Ape has contributed to the group’s massive hit records featuring artists including J Balvin, Anitta, Nicki Minaj, Mr Eazi, and the group’s fourth studio album Music Is The Weapon released in October 2020.
