Helmut Koller Brings Kollerism To DTLA

Helmut Koller brings his vibrant animal paintings to downtown Los Angeles at the Bank Of America plaza. The collection features eight pieces on public display from April 20th – August 21st.

Location: Bank Of America Plaza – 333 S Hope St STE 100, Los Angeles, CA 90071
Installation Dates Dates: April 20th – August 21st
Print Exhibition Dates: April 6th – September 25th.

The pieces feature the artist’s signature style and theme referred to as “Kollerism” or “the realistic representation of the form and the abstraction of colors.” This dynamic produces stunning portraits of wildlife with a surreal quality. Koller’s art has been shown in galleries around the world and he now hopes to bring his fresh take on animal art to cities throughout the globe, bringing wildlife to the urban jungle by creating banners and murals of his art.

When asked about the creative process and scale of this project Helmut said…
These large scale images were actually not painted for this installation. Because of my style & detail, it would take me over 2 years to paint 8 originals of this size. Economically, this would be unrealistic. However, to see my paintings enlarged to this size, is beyond exciting! Just the sheer scale of it and also extremely joyful as an artist, that I can give large groups of people something to experience for free.  With the help of Brookfield Properties, that is. Making them a surprising & unexpected gift of beauty.
I’ve always dreamed of doing an exhibit, that would fill all the billboards in a city. The project in LA, comes very close to that dream.“
